Simultaneous interpretation

Simultaneous interpretation is a type of oral translation mostly used at conferences with a lot of participants, often with several working languages, though a number of our clients opt for this service for other types of events (business negotiations, meetings, master-classes, TV shows, etc).

Simultaneous interpretation is usually performed by two interpreters sitting in a soundproof booth and working interchangeably. Participants of the event are most likely to have headphones and a control to choose a language they prefer to listen to what is being said. The interpreter talks at the same time with the speaker, thus you save time as you do not have to wait for the interpreter to do their work (as happens when you opt for consecutive interpretation).

I like simultaneous interpretation for the uninterrupted interchange of information that takes place between the speaker and the audience. The person who does not know a foreign language does not feel any stress as they are listening the real-time interpretation of the speech through the headphones in their mother tongue. They may ask a question and receive an answer without any barriers.

It is of special interest to work at multilingual conferences where there is always a language that is common to all the interpreters involved. Such common language is used to translate into all the working languages of the event. For example, at the AIBA Congress held in Almaty, Kazakhstan, I worked in the Spanish-Russian booth. Russian was the common language there while the conference-goers spoke in Russian, English, Spanish, French and Arabic. When the speech was delivered in English, I listened to my English-Russian collegue and interpreted his Russian text into Spanish. Same was done by interpreters in the French-Russian and Arabic-Russian booths.

How we work

We are customer-focused and therefore prefer to discuss your project individually. However, there are some points we would like to tell you about in advance.

Simultaneous interpretation requires special equipment

We can work with your equipment, as well as consult you on its rent. You can also delegate this issue to us completely.

In case you need simultaneous interpreting outside Moscow

You pay transportation, accomodation and meals of interpreters apart from their services (for more information, please refer to accompanying interpretation services).

Reference materials = success

The earlier the interpreter receives reference materials and the more complete they will be, the higher the quality of the interpretation will be. Please, bare in mind that no human being can know everything. Even the most experienced conference interpreter always gets prepared for the job. If you do not provide any materials, we have to prepare using the available information (name of your organization, name and theme of the event, etc). Materials increase the efficiency of the preparation process and subsequently contribute to a better result.

Documents:

- We sign a client services agreement. It may be your document or we can provide ours. We can also design an individual agreement for a specific project in case you need it.

- We are flexible in terms of payment forms. We will agree on this issue depending on the project.

- 100% confidentiality is part of our professional ethics. We are ready to sign additional confidentiality agreements in case you need them.
